Justin Cornelius Hall is the principal at Golden Gates Ventures. As the principal and ‘gatekeeper’ of the company, he focuses on the investments and on the inbound and outbound of businesses. Justin Hall manages Golden Gate Ventures’ existing portfolio while sourcing investments across APAC.

He is also a director for the Golden Gate Ventures Annex Fund, as it focuses on follow-on funding for existing portfolio companies. He graduated in the National University of Singapore. (NUS) He is very pro-entrepreneur and he started working at Rakuten in New York city after finishing his degree in college. This is where he was introduced to programs and investment schemes.

Justin Hall is a New York transplant and a fitness fanatic. His motivation is meeting new people because it enables him to have the opportunity to have an acquaintance with driven and passionate people in regards with their businesses. “I like the exciting mentality. I like to see how peoples’ brains work and see their potential. I find that interesting.” he said. He is also a huge fan of Chicken Rice and Kopi Gau, a strong iced coffee with condensed milk.

Successful companies are not formed in isolation

Golden Gate Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund based in Singapore. It is now investing across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. To date, they have already invested in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. He was previously an Account Manager for Rakuten LinkShare Corporation, which is based in New York. Here, he managed online e-commerce sales for prominent web-based retailers and service providers. He believes in working with heart and good intentions at all times. “For me, sheer empathy and the willingness to work with an entrepreneur. This is the most important aspect, to be a sincere human being.” Justin emphasizes during the interview. Understanding is a key definitely.
